All large retailers to be closed October 4
Officials adjust schedule for mandatory off-days next month

Large retailers must close for two days per month, but their off-days for October will be slightly different than normal.

The Jeju City and Seogwipo administrations decided to adjust the schedule to guarantee the workers at the retailers sufficient holiday time.

Three E-marts, Jeju Lotte Mart, and Seogwipo Homeplus will be closed October 4th, the day after Chuseok, rather than the 13th.

The companies have had to close for the second Friday and the fourth Saturday of every month since June 2012. Officials enacted the regulation with the aim of helping smaller retailers and traditional markets.

다음달 대형마트 의무휴업일 변경 (종합)

도내 대형마트 의무휴업일이 다음달 일부 변경됩니다.

제주시와 서귀포시는 다음달 13일로 예정된 대형마트 의무휴업일을 직원들의 명절 휴식권을 보장하는 취지에서 한시적으로 변경하기로 했습니다.

이에따라 이마트 3곳과 롯데마트 제주점, 홈플러스 서귀포점은 추석 당일인 다음달 4일 휴업하게 됩니다.

대형마트는 지난 2012년 6월부터 지역상권과의 상생 차원에서 매달 두 번째 금요일과 네 번째 토요일마다 의무적으로 휴업하고 있습니다.
