Central bus lanes open October 20
1.4 km between Ara Elementary School, Jeju Fire Station

Local authorities will begin October 20th testing bus-only lanes along the median strip of area roads.

2.7 kilometers of such lanes are planned. Authorities will start this week with trial runs along a 1.4-kilometer stretch between Ara Elementary School and the Jeju Fire Station.

90 people will be stationed along that route to help drivers adjust to the new rules. The group includes so-called “model” motorists as well as employees of local transportation companies.

Local officials say trial runs on the remaining central bus lanes will begin as soon as all construction and preparations are complete.

아라초~소방서 중앙차로 20일부터 운영

아라동과 제주소방서 구간에 조성된 버스 중앙차로가 오는 20일부터 시범 운영됩니다.

제주특별자치도는 대중교통 중앙차로 2.7km 구간 가운데 아라초 사거리와 소방서 사거리 구간 1.4km 공사가 마무리되면서 20일부터 시범 운영한다고 밝혔습니다.

이와함께 이용자 편의를 위해 해당 구간에 모범 운전자와 운수업체 종사자 등 안내인력 90명을 매일 배치할 계획입니다.

제주도는 나머지 구간도 지장물 이설공사가 끝나는 이달 말부터 단계적으로 운영에 들어갈 계획이라고 밝혔습니다.
