Businesses to be fined for handing out disposable plastic bags
Violators will have to pay up to \3m

Jeju City authorities are cracking down throughout December on businesses that offer customers disposable plastic bags.

Inspectors will be out checking convenience stores, pharmacies, and other shops. Those that offer the bags will fined up to three million won.

Authorities are not targeting wholesalers and retailers that are 33 square meters or less in size that offer bags of a half liter or less in size.

제주시가 12월 한달동안 1회용 비닐봉투와 쇼핑백 제공을 집중 단속합니다.

이번 단속은 편의점과 약국 등을 대상으로 이뤄지며 적발된 업소에 대해서는 최고 300만원의 과태료를 부과합니다.

다만 도소매업의 경우 매장면적이 33제곱미터 이하나 0.5리터 이하의 비닐봉투나 쇼핑백은 단속 대상에서 제외됩니다.
