Glut of white radishes
Province paying for some produce to stabilize market prices

Analysts are projecting a glut of white radishes this year.

The amount of land farmers are using to grow radishes has grown 20 percent compared to last year, and 45 percent more produce is expected.

The provincial government has come up with a plan to keep some of them off the market, so as to minimize the effect on prices.

It has earmarked 2.5 billion won to purchase the crop being grown on 300 hectares of local land.

Radish growers that want to sell to the government may apply to do so through their local Nonghyup through the end of this month. The province is offering about 850 won per square meter of land for the radishes it buys.

과잉생산이 예상되는 월동무에 대한 격리사업이 추진됩니다.

제주특별자치도는 올해산 월동무 재배면적이 지난해보다 20% 늘고 생산량 역시 전년 대비 45% 증가할 것으로 예상되면서 시장격리 사업을 추진한다고 밝혔습니다.

이에따라 다음달까지 25억원을 투입해 월동무 재배면적 300ha를 수매할 예정입니다.

참여 농가는 지역 농협과 농지 소재지 농협으로 이달 말까지 신청하면 되며 지원 단가는 3.3 제곱미터에 2천 800 원입니다
