1. Typhoon Soulik hits Jeju
High winds and heavy rain

Jeju began feeling the effects of Typhoon Soulik Wednesday afternoon.

Anywhere from 150 to 300 millimeters of rain are expected through Thursday in most areas, but the storm could dump more than 500 millimeters at higher elevations.

Authorities have issued a typhoon warning for the entire island and surrounding waters. They are advising everyone to be extremely careful because Soulik is packing maximum wind speeds of 20 to 30 meters per second.

Waves are expected to hit seven meters in height. All passenger vessels have been confined to port.

The Jeju Regional Meteorological Administration says the winds and rain will continue into Thursday.

오늘 제주는 북상하는 태풍 솔릭의 영향으로 오후부터 강한 비바람이 불고 있습니다.

비는 내일까지 제주 전역에 150에서 300mm, 산간에는 최대 500mm가 넘는 폭우가 쏟아질 전망입니다.

제주도와 제주도 앞바다에는 태풍특보가 발효됐고 순간 최대풍속 초속 2-30m의 강풍이 예상돼 안전 사고에 각별한 주의가 요구됩니다.

해상에는 물결이 최고 7m까지 매우 높게 일고 있어 모든 여객선 운항이 통제되고 있습니다.

제주지방기상청은 내일까지 태풍의 영향으로 강한 비바람이 불 것으로 내다봤습니다.
