1. Administrative investigation into Shinhwa World proposed
Process will move forward if majority of provincial council members agree
A local lawmaker proposed Tuesday that the provincial council conduct administrative investigations into all large development projects.
Council member Heo Chang-ok’s proposal covers projects like Shinhwa World that are at least 500,000 square meters in size.
This is in response to the provincial government’s eased requirements for Shinhwa World, which has experienced sewage backflow problems. The proposal calls for a thorough investigation into the process of granting construction permits for the projects and how developers fulfilled the requirements for official project approval.
If a simple majority of sitting council members agree to the proposal, the body will gain the right to investigate. It will then form a special committee for the probe.
