Province has earmarked ￦7.6b in national funding for project

Improvements are underway at Shinyang Port in Chujado.

The aim of the project is to ease access to the small island. Residents and tourists often struggle to get to Chujado in bad weather conditions.

The provincial government will spend 7.6 billion won in national funding to expand docking facilities. The pier will be extended by 50 meters and the turning basin will be lengthened from 180 meters to 230.

Local officials say the changes will reduce the number of days per year on which ferry sailings are canceled from 73 to 58.

추자도 신양항 시설 정비 사업 본격

추자도 신양항의 시설 정비 사업이 본격 추진되고 있습니다.

제주도는 기상악화로 여객선 결항이 잦은 추자지역 주민들과 관광객들을 위해 국비 75억 9천여 만원을 투입해 신양항 접안시설 확충 공사를 진행합니다.

이번 사업으로 여객선 접안시설이 50m 연장되고 선회장 길이도 기존 180m에서 230미터로 늘어납니다.

제주도는 사업이 완료되면 추자지역 여객선 결항률이 한해 73일에서 58일로 감소할 것으로 내다보고 있습니다.
