3. Shipment of Hanwoo calves to Jeju conditionally allowed
Must undergo preliminary inspections before transport, more tests when here

Authorities have conditionally allowed the shipment of Korean Native calves from other areas of the country to Jeju.

Provincial representatives say the decision was made to preserve the species, also referred to by its Korean name “Hanwoo,” and produce local meat.

Only calves that pass preliminary inspections are allowed onto the island. Once here, the Jeju Veterinary Service Laboratory will subject them to additional tests. The provincial government banned Hanwoo raised in other areas of the country in 2010 in response to a nationwide outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease.

타지역 한우 송아지 제한적 반입

14일부터 다른 지역에서 생산된 한우 송아지 반입이 제한적으로 허용되었습니다.

제주특별자치도는 14일부터 종 보존과 고기 생산을 위해 다른지역산 한우 송아지를 반입한다고 밝혔습니다.

사전검사에서 이상이 없는 소만 반입이 가능하며 반입 즉시 동물위생시험소에서
보름 동안 추가 검사를 받게됩니다.

제주도는 지난 2010년 전국 구제역 확산으로 다른 지역산 한우 반입을 금지하고 있습니다.
