1. Foreign investment in Jeju plummets in 2018
Only 12.6% of what it was in 2017
Foreign investment in the island plummeted last year.
The Ministry of Trade and Industry says the nationwide tally of foreign investment last year was 26.9 billion U.S. dollars a record - 17.2 percent more than in 2017.
Investment in Jeju nosedived to 137 million dollars. That’s just 12.6 percent of what it was the year before.
Analysts say tighter regulations on large-scale projects and confusion about local policies were the cause of the drop.
