4. Fewer passengers on Jeju ferries
Officials blame weather, overall drop in tourist arrivals
As the number of tourists coming to the island has fallen, so too has the number of people using local ferries.
Local officials say about 1.24 million people had taken ferries to Jeju Port last year as of November. That’s only 77 percent of the total from the previous year.
The number of passengers on ships between Jeju and Marado/Gapado fell to 79 percent what it had been.
Analysts say bad weather conditions, in addition to the overall drop in tourist arrivals, were to blame for the decline in ferry passengers.
