1. Greenland International Hospital files lawsuit
‘Condition barring Korean patients is illegal’

The provincial government approved the nation’s first for-profit hospital with certain conditions, and the hospital has now filed a lawsuit to remove one of them.

Greenland International Hospital is arguing that the condition to restrict patients to only foreign nationals is illegal. That condition was made in December.


Hospital representatives say they will soon submit preparatory documents stating their case along with supporting evidence.

Provincial representatives have vowed to organize their legal team to fight the suit. They say that in order to maintain the public nature of the medical system, it is essential to bar Korean patients from the hospital.

녹지제주헬스케어 유한회사가
제주지법에 개설허가 조건 취소 청구 행정소송을
제기했습니다.

녹지제주헬스케어는 소장에서
"2018년 12월 5일 본사에 대한 외국의료기관
개설허가 중 '허가조건인 진료대상자를
제주도를 방문하는 외국인 의료관광객을 대상으로
제한한 것은 위법하다"고 주장했습니다.

이어 "청구 원인을 구체적으로 정리한 상세한 내용의
준비서면과 입증자료는 이른 시일 내에 제출하겠다"고
덧붙였습니다.

이에대해 제주도는 "녹지국제병원에 대한 내국인 진료 제한은 의료공공성 확보를 위해 반드시 지켜내야 할 마지노선"이라며
전담법률팀을 꾸려 소송에 대응하겠다고 밝혔습니다.
