1. Dongbok-ri landfill begins accepting waste
Facility will be completely up and running in April

The Environmental Resources Recycling Center in (동복리) Dongbok-ri, (구좌읍) Gujwa-eup began accepting waste Monday.

The provincial government says about 100 tons of incineration ash from an incinerator in (회천) Hoecheon, Jeju City was the first waste shipped to the site for burial in the landfill.

Officials say the landfill will be instrumental in dealing with the ash from that incinerator.

The Dongbok facility will begin accepting nonflammable waste in April once all work on the landfill is complete.

동복 환경자원순환센터 첫 가동…소각재 반입

제주시 구좌읍 동복리 환경자원순환센터가 월요일부터 운영에 들어갔습니다.

제주특별자치도는 18일 오전부터 제주시 회천 북부소각장에 있던 소각재 쓰레기를 동복리 환경자원순환센터내 매립장으로 반입했습니다.

가동 첫 날, 약 100톤의 소각재 쓰레기가 매립돼 회천 매립장 쓰레기 처리난 해소에 도움이 될 전망입니다.

제주도는 동복 매립장이 준공되는 4월부터 일반 불연성 쓰레기도 반입할 예정이라고 밝혔습니다.
