Mr. (문대림) Mun Dae-rim has taken office as CEO of Jeju Free International City Development Center.

He has pledged that his office will make their best efforts to normalize the organization’s long drifting projects, including the (예래) Yerae Resort Residential Complex and Jeju Healthcare Town.

Last month, the Supreme Court ruled that all administrative measures regarding the (예래) Yerae Resort Residential Complex were invalid. As a result, all construction work has been suspended.

Mr. (문대림) Mun Dae-rim, the newly appointed CEO of the developer, Jeju Free International City Development Center, is prioritizing normalization of the (예래) Yerae project.

In his inaugural speech, the 8th CEO emphasized that his office will completely settle the issue before his term ends by forming a dedicated unit under his office and consulting with landowners and investors.

Greenland International Hospital in Jeju Healthcare Town is another headache to JDC.

A public hearing is scheduled to cancel the license of the for-profit investor-owned hospital. Hospital investors have filed a lawsuit against the province.

Mun says his office will also make every effort to seek reasonable solutions for the derailed for-profit hospital.

He announced that the JDC will increase investment in and concentrate on 4th industry instead of focusing on mega development projects.

At a press conference, the new CEO said he opposes transfer of the JDC from the national government to the province.

He added that it’s not true that he had pledged to transfer the organization to the province during last year’s local election.

He also shows will to push ahead with inter-Korean projects in the fields of environment, ecology and peacemaking to live up to the name of his organization.

Mun says that he will consider changes of the roles and responsibilities of the JDC along with the revision of the Jeju Special Act.

The months-long empty position has been filled. The province and area residents are looking closely at the new CEO’s steps for pending issues.
