2. Victims committee calls for revision of 4.3 Incident Special Law
Accuses government of failing to keep promises

As the 71st anniversary of the April 3rd Incident approaches, the relatives of the victims are calling for the revision of the April 3rd Incident Special Law.

The relatives and members of the victims committee gathered Sunday in front of Gwandeokjeong (관덕정) and released a statement demanding the revision.

The committee criticized both the ruling and opposition parties for delaying a decision to pass an amendment to the law after they had promised to do so last year at the 70th anniversary memorial ceremony.

They urged the government to be proactive, regardless of their political affiliations.

제주4.3희생자유족회는 10일 오전 제주시 관덕정 앞에서
유족과 운영위원 등이 참석한 가운데 4.3특별법 개정을 촉구하는 성명서를 발표했습니다.

유족회는 성명서에서 지난해 70주년 4.3추념식에 참석했던
여야 정치권이 4.3특별법의 조속한 처리를 약속했지만
지금까지 미루고 있다고 비판했습니다.

그러면서 초당적 자세로 4.3특별법 개정안 처리에 적극적으로
나서 줄 것을 정부와 정치권에 강력히 촉구한다고 밝혔습니다.
