3. Nationwide survey conducted to assess knowledge of 4.3 Incident
42% have little to no awareness, 12% have distorted view

A nationwide survey has revealed that four out of ten Koreans are not aware of the April 3rd incident.

To mark the 71st anniversary of the incident, the Jeju April 3rd national committee surveyed about 2,000 students across the nation starting January last year. The survey showed that 23 percent of respondents claimed to have no knowledge about the incident and 19% had very little knowledge.

It also showed that 12 percent of respondents had a distorted perception of the incident. The committee added that giving seminars around the country contributed to increasing awareness and emphasized the need for continued classes.

특히 4.3의 성격에 대해 질문한 결과
12% 정도가 왜곡된 인식을 가진 것으로 조사됐습니다.

범국민위원회는
다른지역에서 진행한 강의가
4.3을 전국화하는 데 기여한 것으로 보인다며
지속적인 강의 필요성을 남겼습니다.
