5. Health officials crackdown on illegal drugs cultivation
Criminals to be sentenced up to 5 years, 50M won in fines

The Seogwipo Dongbu Public Health Center is cracking down on the illegal cultivation of drugs.

Health officials will search greenhouses, residential gardens and natural habitats of poppy plants and hemp during the harvesting season through June.

Those caught and convicted could face a sentence of up to five years in prison or a fine of 50 million won according to the Narcotics Control Act.

Officers urged the public to report to the health center or the police station if they come across illegal cultivation of drugs.

마약류 밀경작 행위에 대한 특별단속에 나섭니다.

단속 기간은
양귀비와 대마의 수확기인 오는 15일부터 6월까지로
비닐하우스나 텃밭,
과거 자생지에서의 밀경작 행위를 집중 단속합니다.

단속에 적발되면
마약류 관리법에 따라
최고 5년의 징역이나 5천만원의 벌금이 부과됩니다.

서귀포시 동부보건소는
마약류 불법재배 현장을 목격할 경우
보건소나 경찰서로 즉시 신고해줄 것을 당부했습니다.
