4. Jeju Customs takes aim at undeclared cigarettes
Travelers smuggling Chinese cigarettes are main focus of enforcement

Jeju Customs have strengthened surveillance on undeclared cigarettes brought in by overseas travelers from April 15.

Officials are cracking down on individuals carrying more than a carton of cigarettes. It is especially targeting travelers selling cigarettes from China to local Chinese.

Undeclared cigarettes will be forfeited and smugglers will be fined in accordance with the Customs Law.

Officials discovered some 760 cases of smuggled cigarettes from January to February this year, twice that of the same period last year.

제주세관, 담배 초과반입 단속 강화

제주세관이 15일부터
해외여행객을 대상으로 담배를 초과 반입하는 밀수행위 단속을 강화했습니다.

이번 단속은
중국산 담배를 반입해 도내 중국인 등에게 되파는
대리 반입 행위를 막기 위한 것으로
1명당 1보루를 초과한 담배를 적발하게 됩니다.

특히 자진신고 하지 않고 밀수할 경우
관세법에 따라 몰수하고 벌금을 부과할 방침입니다.

지난 1~2월 제주세관에 적발된 초과 담배 반입 건수는
380여 건으로 지난해 같은 기간보다 2배 이상 늘었습니다.
