4. Seogwipo launches project to contain water overflow
Local stream erodes soil of nearby farmland

Seogwipo City is pushing for a maintenance project of a small local stream called Saengmokgolnae(생목골내) located at the border line of Hogeun-dong and Seohodong.

The water overflow from the stream during heavy rainfall has been inflicting great damage in nearby farmlands by causing soil erosion.

The maintenance project includes specifics to expand the stream from four to six meters in width and create a basin to alleviate water level rise during torrential rain. A bridge will be installed as well.

The construction design is expected to be finalized by the end of this year. Officials will begin constructions next year and complete the project by 2022.

생목골내는 호근동과 서호동 경계에 위치한 소하천으로
집중호우 때마다 토사유실로 인해
주변 농경지에 막대한 피해를 입혀왔습니다.

이번 사업에는
하천 폭을 기존보다 4~6m 확장하고
교량과 저류지를 신설하는 내용이 포함됐습니다.

서귀포시는 연말까지 실시설계를 마무리하고
내년부터 본격적인 토지매입과 공사를 시작해
2022년 사업을 마무리할 계획입니다.
