1. COVID 19 Special Committee turns down duty free licenses
Kang Sung-min appointed as chairman

The recently formed special committee of the Jeju Provincial Council on the post COVID19 response has called for the withdrawal of its decision to allow new licensing for large duty-free shops in Jeju.

The committee held its first meeting at the Jeju Provincial Council on July 31st and made the announcement.

They said in a statement that the creation of an additional duty-free shop for large corporations in Jeju ignored the difficulties of small business owners, and that the Ministry of Strategy and Finance should withdraw its decision to allow licensing.

Meanwhile, the COVID19 Response Committee has appointed Kang Sung-min (강성민) as chairman and will establish mid- to long-term strategies for a year.

특위는 성명을 통해
제주에 대기업 면세점 1곳이 추가 신설되는 것은
소상공인의 어려움을 무시한 처사라며
기획재정부 제도운영위원회는
특허 허용 결정을 철회해야 한다고 주장했습니다.

한편 코로나 대응 특위는
강성민 의원을 위원장으로 선임하고
앞으로 1년 동안
코로나 발생 이후 도정의 정책 방향을 점검하면서
중장기 전략을 수립할 계획입니다.
