5. Farmer in her 60s tests positive for SFTS
7th case of infection on Jeju Island

The seventh case of SFTS, or severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome, has occurred in Jeju.

According to Seogwipo City, a 61-year-old woman was tested positive for SFTS after showing symptoms such as fever, diarrhea and fatigue.

The patient is said to have shown abnormal symptoms after she had completed beekeeping and helped an acquaintance with tangerine field work.

Health authorities stressed that since prevention is important for SFTS, residents should use a repellent or wear long clothing to avoid being bitten by ticks when doing outdoor labor.

61살 여성 A씨가 발열과 설사, 피로감 등의 증상을 보여
SFTS 감염 여부를 검사한 결과 양성 판정을 받았습니다.

A씨는 앞서 양봉작업을 마치고
지인의 감귤 제초작업을 도와준 뒤
이상 증상을 보인 것으로 전해졌습니다.

보건당국은
SFTS는 예방이 중요한 만큼
농작업 등 야외활동을 할 때는 진드기에 물리지 않도록
기피제를 활용하거나
긴 옷을 착용해야 한다고 강조했습니다.
