Jeju Feeling the Chill

Heavy rain drenches the ground.
The wet weather sends people hurrying along with their umbrellas.
Even though last Sunday marked the beginning of winter according to the lunar calendar, Jeju enjoyed a warm weekend with a daytime high of 22 degrees Celsius.
But on Monday, cold autumn rain and an icy wind arrived.
People are now wearing thicker coats.
Islanders and visitors alike are recognizing that winter is just around the corner.
A total of 10 to 40 mm of rain were recorded in the early hours of Monday through to the afternoon, with some 60 mm measured in some areas.
Following the rain, a strong, cold wind began to blow across the island.
The daytime high on the island plunged to between 12 and 17 degrees Celsius on Monday. That's a six-degree drop from the previous day.
The Mercury fell below zero up on Hallasan Mountain.
The drop in temperature and rain resulted from a low pressure system and cold air mass flowing southward.
The Korea Meteorological Administration forecasts that Jeju's chilly weather will continue through the week.
On Tuesday morning, Hallasan Mountain saw its first snowfall of the season.
For the time being, daytime highs are expected to be around 15 degrees Celsius. Officials are advising islanders to pay special attention to the changing weather conditions and to take precautions to stay healthy.

새벽부터 시작된 비는 낮까지 제주 전역에 10에서 40mm,

많은 곳에는 60mm 안팎의 강수량을 보였습니다.
비가 그친 뒤에는
산지를 중심으로
제주 전역에 강한 바람이 불고 있습니다.
그제(8일) 낮 기온은 12에서 17도로
어제보다 6도 이상 낮게 나타났습니다.
산지에는 기온이 영하권으로 떨어지기도 했습니다.
기압골의 영향으로 비가 내리고
찬공기가 남하하면서
기온이 급격히 떨어진 겁니다.
기상청은
이번주 내내 이같은 날씨가 이어질 것으로 보고 있습니다.
화요일 오전 한라산에는 첫 눈이 내렸습니다.
당분간 낮 기온이 15도 안팎으로
쌀쌀한 날씨가 이어질 것으로 보이는 가운데
환절기 건강관리에
각별히 주의가 요구되고 있습니다.
