Murderer of Lawyer Lee → Not Guilty to Guilty

The long time unsolved murder case of lawyer Lee Seung Yong has come to a closure. The court overturned its first ruling that pleaded him not guilty to guilty with a sentence to 12 years in prison.

At an appeal sentencing held on the 17th,
the Gwangju High Court Criminal Justice Department reversed the acquittal of the first trial pleading Kim guilty of murder and sentenced him to 12 years in prison.

Kim was judged guilty considering the weapon used at the scene of the crime and the fact that Kim paid his accomplice.

The court upheld the first trial ruling, which sentenced him to a year and a half in prison for threatening a broadcaster employee.

The murder case of Lawyer (이승용) Lee Seung-yong which happened back in 1999 has remained unsolved the past 23 years. A re-investigation was conducted claiming that defendant Kim had instigated the murder, and the real culprit has finally been revealed.



이승용 변호사 살해 1심 무죄→항소심 '유죄'…징역 12년

장기미제로 남았던 이승용 변호사 살인 사건 항소심 재판부가 살해 혐의에 대해 무죄를 선고했던 1심 판결을 뒤집고 유죄를 선고했습니다.


광주고법 제주 제1형사부는
17일 열린 항소심 선고 공판에서
56살 김 모씨의 살해 혐의를 인정해
1심 무죄 판결을 파기하고
징역 12년을 선고했습니다.

재판부는 당시 사용된 흉기와 범행 상황
그리고 공범에게 자금을 지급한 사실 등을 고려했을때
김 씨는 살인 공동정범으로 인정된다고 판시했습니다.

재판부는 방송사 직원을 협박한 혐의로
징역 1년 6개월을 선고한 1심 판결은 유지했습니다.

지난 1999년 발생한 이승용 변호사 살인사건은
그동안 장기 미제 사건으로 남아 있었지만
지난 해, 방송을 통해 피고 김씨가 살인을 교사했다고 주장하며 재수사가 이뤄졌고
범행 23년 만에 진범이 드러나게 됐습니다.
