Floorball Competition Held in Jeju


These floorball athletes are in the middle of training.
The top-ranked national floorball team of the Czech Republic is closely observing the training session.

The team notes key points that players have to pay attention to and teaches difficult skills to the Korean players who participate in the international competition.
This is a coaching clinic organized as the pre-event of the 2022 Jeju International Floorball Open Championships.

Each person may have a slightly different view, but I think Korean players are preparing in earnest for this competition. Professional foreign players will be competing and there is prize money on offer to successful teams.


The competition, which was held at Halla Gymnasium and the gymnasium of Halla Middle School from the 26th to 28th, had more than 700 players of 22 men’s and women’s teams from 11 countries, including Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Switzerland.
As the event was held for the first time in three years due to the pandemic and is the only such international competition held in Korea, Korean floorball clubs were highly interested in the competition.

Due to the pandemic, not only Korean athletes, but also athletes from other Asian countries have waited a long time for this international competition. We welcome players from many different countries.

From the island, men’s teams from Cheju Halla University and the Jeju Blue Dolphins competed and women’s teams from (신성) Shinseong Girls’ High School and the Jeju Blue Dolphins competed for top places.
During the last competition held prior to the pandemic, one Jeju women’s team and one men’s team took runner-up spots in surprise results.
In particular, amid growing interest in floorball in Asian countries in recent years, the competition in Jeju is expected to greatly help revitalize domestic floorball.

Through this competition, I hope players can develop their skills, enjoy playing while competing and gain confidence. I hope that more European and Asian teams will participate in the future.

At this sporting event, held for the first time in three years due to the pandemic, it’s the spirit of harmony among clubs and nations as well as a chance to learn from the world's top floorball athletes that’s garnered the most attention.




국내 유일 국제플로어볼대회 '개막'

제주오픈국제플로어볼대회를 앞두고 마련된 특별 이벤트입니다.

사람마다 기준이 조금씩 다를 수 있다고 생각하는데 제가 생각할 때는
외국 선수들도 나와서 뛰는 경기이고 한국 선수들도 상금이 걸려 있는만큼 많이 주비를 해서 나오는 대회입니다.

28일까지 한라체육관과 한라중체육관에서 진행한 이번 대회는
우리나라를 비롯해
싱가포르와 인도네시아, 필리핀, 스위스 등
11개국에서 남여 22개팀, 7백여 명이 출전했습니다.

특히 코로나19 사태로 3년 만에 열리게 된데다
국내에서 거의 유일하게 열리는 국제대회인 만큼
동호인들의 관심은 뜨겁습니다

코로나로 인해서 이제 운동을 못하던 선수들이 우리나라에서도 처음 열리는 국제대회가 되었고 아시아권에서도 열리지 못했던 대회가 제주도에서 열리다 보니 많은 국가에서 선수들이 참가하고 있습니다.

제주에서는 남자부에서
제주한라대학교팀과 제주블루돌핀스,
여자부에선 신성여고팀과
제주블루돌핀스 등이 출전했습니다.

코로나 이전 마지막으로 열린
지난 제5회 대회에선 제주출전팀이 깜짝 남녀 동반 준우승을 차지하기도 했습니다.

특히 최근 몇년간 아시아 국가에서
플로어볼에 대한 관심이 높아지는 가운데
제주에서 열리는 이 대회가
국내 플로어볼 활성화에
큰 도움을 줄 것으로 기대를 모으고 있습니다.
