Jeju Island announced that it will foster Jeju’s space industry to act as an innovative hub for the Korean space economy.

Jeju Governor Oh Young-hoon introduced five strategies, including J-space governance and policies, industry and space ecosystem development, and private space infrastructure. He also declared that Jeju Island will support the private space economy.

As a way to embody the development of space industries, five major value chains were introduced. They include satellite utilization, station services, cube satellites, and eco-friendly private projectiles.

Governor Oh also explained that Jeju will break the boundaries of Jeju island by launching and controlling small satellites made in Jeju through the value chains and create a virtuous cycle ecosystem that utilizes satellite data.



'제주형 스페이스X' 우주산업 집중 육성

제주도가 대한민국 우주경제의 혁신 거점으로 거듭나기 위해 제주 우주산업을 육성하겠다고 밝혔습니다.

오영훈 제주도지사는 J-우주 거버넌스와 제도 구축, 관련 생태계 조성과 산업 육성, 민간 우주 인프라 구축 등 5대 추진 전략을 설명하고 제주도가 민간 우주경제를 뒷받침하겠다고 선포했습니다.

또 제주형 스페이스 X와 같은 우주산업 육성을 구체화하기 위한 방안으로 위성정보 활용과 지상국 서비스, 소형 큐브 위성, 친환경 민간 소형 발사체 등 제주형 우주경제 5대 가치사슬을 제시했습니다.

이와 함께 5대 가치 사슬을 통해 제주에서 만든 소형 위성을 쏘아 올리고 관제하며 위성 데이터를 활용하는 선순환 생태계를 조성해 제주가 섬이라는 공간적 한계를 넘어 우주로 뻗어나가게 될 것이라고 설명했습니다.
