Jeju's crime and public safety index ranks among the lowest in the country, with calls for expanded CCTV installation and improvements in drinking culture.

The Province held a public forum to discuss ways to improve the local safety index in the areas of crime and public safety.

Dr. Shin Jin-Dong (신진동), a researcher at the National Disaster Management Research Institute, who presented at the forum, pointed out that 95% of the region’s five major crimes are focused on theft and violence. He also highlighted that the ratio of drinking establishments per 10,000 residents contributes to the increase in alcohol-related violence.

Proposed solutions included expanding CCTV installation, patrols, the number of volunteer neighborhood watch members and making efforts to improve the drinking culture.

제주지역 5대 범죄의 95%가 절도와 폭력에 집중됐고
특히 인구 만 명당
주점 업체 수가 많아
주취 폭력 발생률이 높다고 지적했습니다.

해결 방안으로는
CCTV 확대 설치와 음주문화 개선,
집중 순찰, 자율방범대원 확충 등을 제시했습니다.
