On January 1st, the Jeju Provincial Council, led by Chairman Lee Sang-bong (이상봉) along with the presence of other council members, held a New Year's ceremony as the first official event of the year.

On this day, Chairman Lee and the members visited the Jeju National Cemetery and Changyeol (창열) Shrine to pay their respects. They honored the noble sacrifices and achievements of the fallen patriots and national heroes, while also praying for the safety and well-being of the people of Jeju and wishing for a prosperous future.

The group also visited the 4.3 Peace Park to honor the spirits of the victims and to wish for the inclusion of the 4.3-related documents in the UNESCO Memory of the World Register, as well as for the global recognition of the Jeju 4.3 Incident.



제주도의회, 도민 무사안녕 기원 신년 참배

제주특별자치도의회가 1일 을사년 새해 첫 공식 일정으로
이상봉 의장을 비롯한 의원 등이 참석한 가운데
신년 참배 행사를 진행했습니다

이날 이상봉 의장과 의원들은
국립제주호국원과 창열사를 참배하고
순국선열과 호국영령의 숭고한 희생과 위훈을 추모하고
제주도민의 무사안녕과 희망찬 도약을 기원했습니다.

또 4.3평화공원을 찾아 희생자의 영령을 위로하고
4.3기록물의 유네스코 세계기록유산 등재와 제주 4.3의 세계화를 기원했습니다.
