2. National authorities say Jeju can restrict changes to casino permits Ministry of Government Legislation announces its interpretation of existing law

The Ministry of Government Legislation says that, according to its authoritative interpretation of the law, the provincial government has the authority to restrict permission for casinos that want to relocate or change other aspects of their operations.

Provincial representatives say the ministry interpreted the law to mean that the province can limit changes to casino permits for the public good and the healthy development of casino industry.

The province therefore plans to prepare “rational and detailed” standards for allowing changes to casino permits and it plans to add those guidelines to the upcoming 7th revision of the Jeju Special Law.
