1. Some BMWs banned from local roads
200+ recalled cars have not yet passed safety inspection

The provincial government is banning hundreds of BMWs from local streets after a number of the vehicles caught fire on the mainland.

206 cars are subject to the ban because they hadn’t yet been inspected and deemed safe by the car company as of August 15th.

The province notified the affected owners on the 17th and the ban went into effect as soon as they received that official notification.

If one of those vehicles catches fire while it is being driven and before it has passed a safety inspection, the owner will be punished according to the Automobile Management Act.

안전진단 미이행 BMW '운행정지'

제주특별자치도가 화재사고가 지속적으로 발생하고 있는 BMW 차량에 대한 운행정지를 명령했습니다.

운행정지 명령 대상은 지난 15일까지 긴급안전진단을 받지 않은 BMW 차량 206대입니다.

제주도는 이들 차량에 대해 17일자로 운행정지 명령서를 개별 통지했고 이 명령서는 도달하는 즉시 효력이 발생하게 됩니다.

만약 안전진단을 받지 않고 운행하다 화재사고가 발생할 경우 자동차관리법에 따라 고발조치돼 처벌받게 됩니다.
