5. Seongsan-Nokdong ferry to begin sailing in 2020
800-passenger vessel being built for route

A ferry will begin sailing between Seongsan Port in Seogwipo and (녹동) Nokdong in South Jeolla Province in about a year and a half.

The provincial government and Yeosu Regional Office of Maritime Affairs say a ferry company acquired a license for limited operations in September on that route.

The company is now building a 14,000-ton vessel that can accommodate 800 passengers. Its maiden voyage on the route is scheduled for May 2020.

The (아리온) Arion Jeju currently sails between Nokdong and Jeju Port in Jeju City.

성산-녹동 여객선 2020년 취항 추진

서귀포 성산항에서 전남 녹동을 잇는 뱃길이 추진됩니다.

제주도와 여수지방해양수산청에 따르면 성산-녹동 간 항로에 한 여객선사가 지난 9월 조건부 면허를 취득했습니다.

해당 선사는 2020년 5월 취항을 목표로 승객 800명을 태울 수 있는 1만 4천톤급 여객선을 건조하고 있습니다.

현재 전남 녹동 항로에는 제주항에서 출발하는 아리온제주호가 운항하고 있습니다.
