1. Provincial council to investigate large developments
New special committee formed to oversee administrative probes

The provincial council held a sign unveiling ceremony Wednesday afternoon in the first basement level of the council office building for a new special committee on administrative investigations.

The committee’s 13 members include eight provincial council members, policy consultants, legal consultants, and administrative support staff.

They will work through December 20th this year investigating large-scale development projects. They will look for problems in the administrative process for the developments as well as the environmental impact of the projects, preferential treatment, and financial damage to the province. The committee will attempt to determine the reasons for any problems it does find and then suggest ways to fix those problems.

제주도의회 행정사무조사특별위원회 16일 오후 도의회 지하 1층에서 현판 제막식을 열고 본격적인 활동에 들어갔습니다.

행정사무조사특별위원회는 오는 12월 20일까지 활동하게 되며 도의원 8명과 함께 정책자문위원과 법률자문위원, 행정지원 등 13명으로 구성됐습니다.

앞으로 대규모 개발사업 가운데 행정적 처리의 문제점과 환경적 영향, 특혜,
제주도에 대한 재정적 손해 등에 대한 조사를 통해 원인을 밝혀내고 개선을 유도하게 됩니다.
