Offenders to serve 1 year in prison with 2 years of probation

Three people involved in the operation and promotion of illegal gambling websites have been sentenced to terms of imprisonment.

Jeju District Court Judge (박준석) Park Joon-seok sentenced two of the accused, surnamed Kim and Jang, both 36, and a 34--year-old surnamed Shin to a year in jail with two years of probation. They operated gambling sites in Manila, the Philippines from July 2017 through last December and collected 25 billion won in bets from site users.

Judge Park revealed the reason for his ruling that the crime had been ongoing for quite a long time and the sum of illegally earned money was substantial.

250억여 원을 입금받아 사이버머니로 충전시켜주고
도박사이트를 홍보한 혐의 등으로 기소된
36살 김 모 피고인과 장 모 피고인,
34살 신 모 피고인 3명에게
각각 징역 1년에 집행유예 2년을 선고했습니다.

박 부장판사는 판결문에서
피고인들의 범행 기간이 짧지 않고
금액 역시 작지 않은 점 등을 감안해
이 같이 선고한다고 판시했습니다.
