Korean-language IB pilot program to trial in 1 local high school

The Provincial Office of Education has officially signed a contract of cooperation with the International Baccalaureate Organisation to create an International Baccalaureate program in Korean.

This will pave the way for a full-fledged implementation of the IB curriculum on the island. During the second half of this year, the education office will select a rural high school to run a pilot IB curriculum in Korean.

The local education office plans to expand the IB program to elementary and middle schools after observing results from the trial run.

The office has been training teachers since May to foster IB specialists.

제주도교육청이
IB 본부와
IB 교육과정의 한국어화를 위한 협력각서를 정식 체결했습니다.

이에 따라 IB 교육과정을 본격 추진하는 발판을 마련하게 됐으며
올 하반기 공모를 통해
읍면지역 고등학교 한곳을 지정해 시범 운영하게 됩니다.

또 시범운영결과를 보면서
초등학교와 중학교로 확대 시행한다는 계획입니다.

제주도교육청은
IB 전문가 양성을 목표로
지난 5월부터 교사 연수를 진행하고 있습니다.
