2. Local police to crack down on DUI
137 drunk driving accidents in Jeju through June

The Jeju Provincial Police Agency and the Jeju Municipal Police will begin a three-month crackdown on Driving Under the Influence in September.

This is due to a smaller than expected drop in drunk driving accidents even after the enactment of Yoon Chang-ho Law, which imposes harsher punishments for drunk driving.

After Yoon Chang-ho Law was enacted from December, there were 137 drunk driving accidents through June in the island. 200 people were injured and a person died from the accidents.

경찰, 다음달부터 음주운전 대대적 단속

윤창호법 시행 이후에도
음주운전 사고가 줄지 않으면서
경찰이 대대적인 단속에 나섭니다.

제주지방경찰청과 자치경찰단은
다음달부터 11월까지 삼개월동안
상습 음주 운전 근절을 위한 합동단속을 벌입니다.

한편, 음주운전 처벌을 강화한 윤창호법이 시행된
지난해 12월 이후 6월까지
제주에서 발생한 음주운전사고는 모두 137건이고
이 사고로
1명이 숨지고 2백여 명이 다쳤습니다.
