3. Erosion found on all mountain hiking trails
Province to address environmental damage on Hallasan

Hiking trails at Hallasan Mountain were found to suffer soil erosion due to incurred damages by hikers.

The Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources conducted a survey for environmental damage at hiking trails in Hallasan Mountain and found soil erosion in all courses, including Donnaeko and Seongpanak Trails.

Researchers explained that hikers have changed the geological features and vegetation of the trails, thus causing soil erosion.

The province plans to draw up a comprehensive management plan for the trails based on the survey results.
