4. Local private schools revise articles to promote fairness
Revision sets person specifications of school board members

All private schools in Jeju Island have revised its articles to promote fairness in the education field.

The Provincial Office of Education said 10 local private institutions have revised their articles under the supervision of the Provincial Office of Education. Samsung Girls' High School was the first to do so in April.

The revision now stipulates that schools can only elect an education expert or an outside figure as board members. This was done to address criticism regarding the lack of fairness in the appointment process due to unclear person specification for school board members.

In addition, members of the committee that conducts the screening process of the selection of teacher candidates will be appointed through voting and recommendations.

제주도내 모든 사학법인들이
교육 공정성을 강화하기 위해
일괄적으로 정관을 개정했습니다.

제주도교육청은
지난 4월 삼성여고를 시작으로
제주도내 10개 사학법인이
도교육청의 권고사항을 반영해
정관 개정을 완료했다고 밝혔습니다.

이번 개정을 통해
그동안 자격 기준이 불분명해
공정성이 떨어진다는 지적을 받아온 개방이사직을
교육전문가나 외부 인사로 선출하도록 명시했습니다.

또 교원 임용을 심의하는 교원인사위원 선출과 관련해
기존의 학교장 권한이 아닌
추천이나 투표를 거치도록 개선했습니다.
