Local government employees call for Governor Won to prioritize needs of provincial residents
Accuses governor of neglecting duties for own political ambitions

Jeju Governor Won Hee-ryong officially announced his bid for the presidency in Seoul on the 15th, and the Jeju Regional Headquarters of the Korean Government Employees' Union issued a statement criticizing the move.

The KGEU accused Governor Won of devoting himself to the central government for his own political ambitions despite a host of local issues.

They called for the governor to show more humility if he wanted support from Jeju residents.

The union also urged Won to resign his post as governor if he will not persuade islanders and won’t receive support from them.

전공노는 지역 현안이 산적해 있는데도
원 지사 본인의 정치적 야망을 위해
중앙정치에 목을 매고 있는 모습이 우려스럽다고 지적했습니다.

그러면서
원 지사는 진정성 있게 도민들에게 인정받고
설득하려는 겸허한 자세를 보여야 한다며
그렇지 못한다면
당당하게 도지사직을 사퇴해
중앙정치에 매진하길 바란다고 덧붙였습니다.
