Nomura’s jellyfish advisory lifted in Jeju
No sightings reported since Oct. 12

The Nomura’s jellyfish advisory issued in Jeju Island has been lifted.

The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries announced that they will lift the warning as an analysis of Nomura’s jellyfish have confirmed no sightings of the jellyfish in Jeju and Jeollanam-do Province since the 12th.

The ministry issued an advisory earlier in June and monitored the jellyfish in waters near Jeju Island.

Nomura’s jellyfish have a one-year lifespan, and its population will decrease significantly from late next month to early December when the water temperature drops.

5. 제주 해역 '노무라입깃해파리' 주의보 해제

제주 해역에 내려졌던
노무라입깃해파리 주의보가 해제됐습니다.

해양수산부는 지난 12일 이후
제주와 전남 해역에
노무라입깃해파리가 더이상 출현하지 않는 것으로
확인됨에 따라
이들 해역에 주의보를 해제한다고 밝혔습니다.

앞서 해양수산부는
지난 6월부터 제주 부근 해역에
해파리가 나타나기 시작하자
주의특보를 발령하고
개체 수를 지속적으로 관찰해 왔습니다.

노무라입깃해파리는
수명이 1년인 단년생으로
수온이 낮아지는 다음달 말에서 12월 초쯤이면
개체수가 크게 줄어들게 됩니다.
