Jeju Island on alert with confirmed COVID variant cases
29 people infected with British variant virus, 1 person contaminated with Indian variant

COVID-19 variants were detected in the province.

According to the province, the recent gene analysis of COVID-19 patients revealed mutated viruses in 30 people.

It is estimated that 28 out of 30 coronavirus variant patients were infected within the province. The other 2 were overseas visitors.

In particular, 29 people have been confirmed to have contracted the British mutated virus. 20 of them are related to the group cluster infection of a university wrestling club. A person has been confirmed to be infected with the indian variant virus.

The British mutant virus has stronger transmission power than conventional mutant viruses, however there is no difference in the duration of the transmission.

제주에서도 코로나19 변이바이러스가 검출돼
방역에 비상이 걸렸습니다.

제주도에 따르면 최근 도내 코로나 확진자에 대한 유전자를 분석한 결과
30명에게서 변이 바이러스가 검출됐습니다.

30명 가운데
해외 입도객 2명을 제외하면
28명이 도내에서 감염된 것으로 추정됩니다.

특히 소규모 집단감염으로 분류된
대학 운동부와 관련해 20명이
영국발 변이 바이러스에 감염된 것으로 확인됐습니다.

한편 영국발 변이 바이러스인 경우
기존 변이 바이러스보다 전파력은 강하지만
전파 기간에는 차이가 없는 것으로 알려졌습니다.
