KDCA refuses to conduct blood clot test for vaccine recipient
Woman in her 20s died after receiving Moderna vaccine

Controversy arose as the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) declined a request for a blood clot test of a woman who died after being vaccinated with Moderna vaccine in the province.

A woman in her 20s who was vaccinated with the Moderna vaccine on the 26th of last month, showed symptoms of thrombosis on the 31st of July and died on August 7th despite undergoing surgery.

It was reported that following the operation, the provincial office requested a blood clot test from the KDCA three times from the 4th to the 6th. They rejected twice because she was vaccinated with the Moderna vaccine and once because they claimed that she does not need to receive the test.

While the province cannot conduct blood clot tests on their own, they are conducting epidemiological investigations based on various information and said that they will make efforts to receive sufficient tests for possible side effects of vaccinations in the future.

Meanwhile, the KDCA is conducting an investigation into whether there was a link between her death and the vaccination.

제주에서 모더나 백신을 접종한 20대가 숨진 것과 관련해 제주도가 질병관리청에 혈전증 검사를 의뢰했지만 받아들여지지 않아 논란이 일고 있습니다.

제주도에 따르면, 20대 여성 A씨가 지난달 26일 모더나 백신을 접종한 뒤 같은 달 31일 혈전증 증상을 보여 수술을 받았지만 지난 7일 숨졌습니다.

제주도는 수술 이후 지난 4일부터 6일까지 세 차례 질병청에 혈전증 검사를 의뢰했지만 두번은 모더나 백신 접종자라는 이유로, 한번은 검사가 필요 없다는 이유로 받아주지 않았다고 설명했습니다.

제주도는 제주도 자체적으로 혈전증 검사를 진행할 수 없지만 다양한 정보를 바탕으로 역학조사를 하고 있고 추후 발생 가능한 백신 접종 부작용에 대해서도 충분한 검사받을 수 있도록 노력하겠다고 밝혔습니다.

한편 질병청은 A씨의 사망과 백신 접종 사이에 연관이 있는지 역학조사한 뒤 인과성을 최종 평가할 계획입니다.
