The remains of Jeju's staff sergeant (송달선) Song Dal-seon who died during the Korean War will be returned to his bereaved families after 71 years.

The Ministry of National Defense Agency for KIA Recovery & Identification said that one of four remains excavated
at (강원도) Gangwon-do and (칠곡) Chilgok-gun in (경상북도) Gyeongsangbuk-do provinces,
were identified to belong to Staff Sergeant Song
through a DNA test of bereaved families.

Song was born in (무릉리) Mureung-ri, (대정읍) Daejeong-eup
in 1925 and joined the army in September 1950
and served in the war.

He died during the war in (설악산) Seoraksan Mountain
the following year.
