Video Trials to be Expanded

As the Code of Civil Procedure and Criminal Procedure have been revised, video trials will be carried out extensively in Jeju.

With a large number of trials being delayed in courts
due to social distancing measures and the spread of COVID-19,
video trials will be operated extensively through the revision of laws
to avoid delays in lawsuits.

Previously, only witnesses and experts testifying have been allowed
to carry out video trials remotely. It now extends the use of video trials to include pre-trial hearings, interrogations and pleadings.

The Jeju District Court has finalized installation of equipment needed for video trials, but no applications for video trials have been submitted yet in Jeju.


제주에서도 민·형사 영상재판 확대 시행

민사소송법과 형사소송법이 개정되면서
제주에서도 영상재판이 확대 시행됩니다.

코로나19의 급속한 확산과 사회적 거리두기 정책으로
각급 법원에서 상당수의 재판이 지연된 바 있어
이를 보완하기 위해 법 개정을 통해 확대하는 것입니다.

이에따라 그동안 증인이나 감정인 신문에만 허용된 원격 영상재판이
앞으로 변론 준비기일이나 심문 기일, 변론 기일로 확대 시행됩니다.

제주지방법원도 모든 법정에
영상재판을 위한 필요장비 설치를 마무리했습니다.

다만 현재까지 제주에서 영상재판 신청 사례는 없습니다.
