Bereaved Families for Retrials

Bereaved families of the April 3rd victims, who were arrested and sentenced to imprisonment, who were later acknowledged as the victims, have applied for retrials.

The Association for Bereaved Families held a press conference
in the morning of November 30th and said that
13 bereaved family members filed reconsideration bills
to the Jeju District Court,
as the April 3rd Special Act has contained the clause of
retrials for the victims who were sentenced through general trials.

Meanwhile, some claimed that there were limitations to the system
pointing to several victims who could not apply for a retrial,
as they do not have bereaved family members
or for not having any prison records or court rulings.



일반재판 4·3희생자 유족 13명 '재심' 청구

4·3 당시 일반재판으로 억울한 옥살이 후
뒤늦게 4·3 희생자로 인정된 유족들이 법원에 재심을 청구했습니다.

제주4·3희생자유족회는
11월 30일 오전 제주지방법원 앞에서 기자회견을 갖고
4·3특별법에 일반 재판에 대한 특별 재심 조항이 마련되면서
희생자 유족 13명이
제주지방법원에 재심청구서를 제출했다고 밝혔습니다.

한편 일반재판 재심청구인 모집에 참여했던 일부 희생자는
유족이 없거나
수형 기록은 있지만 판결문이 없어
이번 재심신청에 동참하지 못해 한계로 지적되고 있습니다.
