Life Expectancy Increases to 84 Years

Life expectancy of last year’s newborns in Jeju is expected to be 84 years. According to the National Statistical Office,
the life expectancy of newborns in Jeju in 2020
is reported to be 84 years which is a 1.3 years increase
compared to 3 years ago.

By sex, the life expectancy of male newborns increases by 1.5 years to 80.2 years
and female newborns rises by a year to 87.7 years.

The notable finding is that the life expectancy of male newborns
in the island is below 80.5 years which is the national average,
but the life expectancy of female newborns in the province
exceeds the national average which is 86.5 years,
and records the highest in the country.

제주 출생아 기대수명 84년…3년 전보다 1년 늘어

지난해 제주에서 태어난 출생아의 기대수명은 84년으로 나타났습니다.
통계청에 따르면 지난해 제주에서 태어난
출생아 남녀평균 기대수명은 84년으로
3년 전 82.7년과 비교해 1.3년 이상 늘어났습니다.

성별로 보면
남성의 경우 80.2년으로 1.5년 늘었고
여성은 87.7년으로 1년 증가했습니다.

제주에서 태어난 남성의 기대수명은 전국 평균 80.5년을 밑돌았지만 여성의 기대수명은
전국 평균 86.5년을 웃돌며 17개 시도 중 가장 높았습니다.
