An integrated elementary and middle school will be established within the Jeju Science Park Complex.

The Jeju POE has finalized and announced its plans to open the integrated school tentatively under the name of "(월평)Wolpyeong Elementary and Middle School" within the Jeju Science Park Complex.

The new school will have 38 classes, including kindergarten and special classes, with a budget of 45 billion won. The aim is to open the school in March 2028.

The school land is covered by the JDC, and the Ministry of Education plans to request a central investment review in April following a self-assessment review in February next year.

The Office of Education believes that the establishment of the integrated school will solve the shortage of kindergartens in Ara-dong and reduce student commute time.

초.중 통합학교 설립이 추진됩니다.

제주도교육청은 제주첨단과기단지 내 가칭 '월평초중' 통합학교 설립계획을 확정해 발표했습니다.

신설되는 학교는 유치원과 특수학급을 포함한 모두 38학급 규모로 사업비 450억원이 투입되며 2028년 3월 개교를 목표로 하고 있습니다.

학교 용지는 JDC 측으로부터 무상공급 받을 예정이며 내년 2월 자체투자심사를 거쳐 4월에는 교육부 중앙투자심사를 의뢰할 계획입니다.

교육청은 통합학교 신설로 아라동 지역 유치원 부족과 학생들의 원거리 통학 불편을 한꺼번에 해소할 수 있을 것으로 판단하고 있습니다.
