The number of visitors and vehicles visiting Jeju island via passenger ships has increased significantly.

According to the Jeju Maritime Affairs and Busan Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Administration, 12 coastal passenger ships arrived through nine routes from the beginning of the year until last month totaling to 1.893 million, up 66 percent from the same period last year.

The number of vehicles, including courier trucks and private vehicles, also increased by 29% from last year to 692,000 units.

At this rate, the number of visitors to Jeju Island is expected to exceed 2 million by the end of the year.





올해 여객선 이용 제주 입도객 66% 급증


올해 여객선을 이용해 제주를 방문한 입도객과 차량 화물이 크게 늘어난 것으로 나타났습니다.

부산지방해양수산청 제주해양수산관리단에 따르면 올들어 지난달까지 9개 항로 12척의 연안 여객선을 이용한 제주 방문객은 189만 3천명으로 지난해 같은 기간에 비해 66% 증가했습니다.


택배 화물차량과 개인 승용차 등을 포함한 차량 수송량도 69만 2천대로 지난해보다 29% 늘었습니다.

현재 이같은 추세라면 올 연말까지 여객선 제주 방문객은 200만명을 넘어설 것으로 예상되고 있습니다.
