Over the past five years, more than 30 fires have occurred during the Lunar New Year holiday.

According to the Jeju Fire Safety Headquarters, 32 fires during the Lunar New Year holiday occurred from 2018 to last year with one person being injured and 400 million won worth of property damage.

The most common reason for the fires was due to carelessness accounting for 40% of the total, followed by electrical causes with 20%.

The Fire Department plans to strengthen special alert work during the Lunar New Year holiday and start fire prevention activities centered on multi-use facilities.




5년간 설 연휴 화재 32건…"부주의 원인 최다"


최근 5년 동안 설 연휴 기간에 30건이 넘는 화재가 발생해 주의가 요구됩니다.

제주소방안전본부에 따르면 지난 2018년부터 지난해까지 설 연휴 기간 발생한 화재는 32건이며 1명이 다치고 4억 원 상당의 재산 피해가 발생했습니다.

부주의로 인한 화재가 전체 40%로 가장 빈도가 많았고 전기적 원인이 20% 수준으로 뒤를 이었습니다.

소방본부는 설 연휴 기간 특별경계근무를 강화하고 다중이용시설 등을 중심으로 화재 예방 활동에 나설 방침입니다.
