Jeju to Introduce a Responsive Bus System

To meet the needs of increased bus routes in rural areas, demand-responsive buses, similar to call-taxis, will be pilot tested beginning next month.

Jeju Island has designated (수산리) Susan-ri in (애월읍) Aewol-eup and (태흥리) Taehung-ri in (남원읍) Namwon-eup as trial routes and announced that demand-responsive buses will be tested for the next six months.

During the trial operation, the buses will operate on a call-based system, meaning they will pick up passengers at their location when there is a demand, except during commuting hours.

The province will review the expansion possibility based on the results of the trial operation.

읍면지역 비효율 버스노선 개선을 위해
콜택시처럼 이용자의 수요에 따라 버스를 호출하는
수요응답형 버스가 다음달부터 시범 운영됩니다.

제주도는
애월읍 수산리와 남원읍 태흥리를
시범 구간으로 지정하고
앞으로 6개월 동안 수요응답형 버스를 시범 운영한다고 밝혔습니다.

시범 운영 구간에서는
출퇴근 시간을 제외하고
호출이 있을 때 버스가 승객이 있는 곳으로 찾아가는 방식으로
운행됩니다.

제주도는
시범운행 결과를 토대로 확대 여부를 검토할 예정입니다.
