Jeju Tourism Revenue Hits 7.6 Tril
Last year, Jeju Island's tourism revenue hit a historic high, reaching 7.6 trillion won.
Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and the Jeju Research Institute released their preliminary estimate for last year's tourism revenue.
Compared to the previous year, this represents a 16.4% increase, marking the highest tourism income ever recorded after estimation.
The revenue from domestic tourists amounted to 6.7 trillion won, accounting for 89% and experiencing a 15% increase from the previous year.
Looking at different sectors, the analysis shows that retail brought in around 2.5 trillion won, accommodation reached approximately 1.3 trillion won, F&B accounted for approximately 1.8 trillion won, and transportation totaled 510 billion won.
Last year, as COVID-19 restrictions were lifted in April, there was a surge in individual and family trips, as well as activities like school trips and package tours. However, this year, due to the decrease in Jeju tourists, it is predicted that tourism revenue will decline compared to last year.
