Governor Oh Young-hoon, who was fined 900,000 KRW in the first trial for violating the Public Official Election Act, has kept the original judgment intact in the appellate trial.

The first criminal division of the Gwangju High Court in Jeju rejected both the prosecution and Governor's appeal at the hearing for the appellate trial on the 24th.

The court stated that considering the degree of illegal involvement in pre-election campaigning, there is no issue with the original imposed fine of 900,000 KRW on Governor Oh Young-hoon.

With the trial also recognizing the guilt of the pre-election allegations, the final judgment is to be determined by the Supreme Court.



오영훈 지사, 공직선거법 항소 기각…"벌금 90만원 유지


공직선거법 위반 혐의로 1심에서 벌금 90만 원을 선고 받은 오영훈 지사가 항소심에서도 원심을 유지했습니다.

광주고등법원 제주제1형사부는 지난 24일 항소심 선고 공판에서 검찰과 오영훈 지사 측의 항소를
모두 기각했습니다.

재판부는 사전 선거운동 가담에 대한 불법성 인식 정도와 선거 공정성 침해 정도 그리고 선거에 미친 영향 등을 고려할때 오영훈 지사에게 벌금 90만 원을 선고한 원심 판단에는 문제가 없다고 판시했습니다.

항소심에서도 사전선거운동 혐의에 대해 유죄가 인정되면서 최종 법리적 판단은 대법원에서 가려질 전망입니다.
