An individual, believed to be an illegal resident from China, fled to China after allegedly stealing approximately 100 million won worth of gold and valuables from a jewelry store in Jeju City, prompting a police investigation.

Jeju Seobu Police Station reported that a Chinese man in his 40s, identified as Mr. A, is suspected of breaking into a jewelry store in Yeon-dong, Jeju City, on the morning of the 7th. He allegedly smashed the back door lock with a hammer and stole about 70 pieces of jewelry worth around 100 million won.

Mr. A is reported to have fly out to Shanghai, China, on the morning of the crime. He had initially entered Jeju last year without a visa and is known to have resided illegally.

The police plan to request international cooperation through Interpol in their pursuit.


불체 중국인, 금은방서 1억 원 상당 훔쳐 출국

중국으로 도주한 사건이 발생해 경찰이 추적에 나섰습니다.

제주서부경찰서에 따르면
40대 중국인 A씨는
지난 7일 새벽 제주시 연동에 있는
금은방 뒷문의 잠금장치를 망치로 부수고 침입해
1억 원 상당의 귀금속 70여 점을 훔쳐 달아난 혐의를 받고 있습니다.


A씨는 범행 당일 오전
항공편을 이용해 중국 상해로 출국했으며
지난해 무사증으로 제주에 입도해
현재 불법체류 신분으로 알려졌습니다.

경찰은 인터폴 국제 공조를 요청할 계획입니다.
